Chair

Gordon Tatnell

Leading the able2sail team is Gordon, who is one of the charities longest standing volunteers having joined aged 16. Following years on the board, Gordon was appointed Chair in 2020. When not keeping the charity on course, Gordon is a Corporate Lawyer specialising in Mergers & Acquisitions.

OD Coordinator

Jan Rose

Jan brings 30 years of Human Resources & Organisational Development experience gained in the public, private and voluntary sectors as Director of her own company to able2sail. Jan’s sailing journey began 8 years ago and started volunteering with able2sail as crew over 6 years ago.

Volunteer Coordinator

Shaun Mochan

Shaun has been volunteering with able2sail since 2018 as a Skipper. With a career spanning 40 yrs in the forestry sector as well as environmental sustainability consulting and operations. Shaun leads on building the able2sail volunteer capacity, volunteer onboarding and development.

Strategic Coordinator

Zoë Robertson

Volunteering with able2sail since 2014, Zoë has recently joined the board as a Trustee. With a background in economic development and having held numerous strategic leadership roles, Zoë currently consults with a variety of clients in the public and private sectors on growth initiatives and projects.

Training Coordinator

John Rigby

A professional sailor with 40 years experience, 15 years as a Yacht Master Instructor, John leads on all the volunteer training and pathways.  As well as putting the volunteers through their paces and refresher training, John has been integral to youth forum cohorts and delivery of RYA accredited courses.

Communications Coordinator

Susan Whiteford

Susan first joined able2sail in 2020 as a volunteer and First Mate. Following a long career in senior leadership communications within the public sector, and as a recent retiree, Susan leads on all able2sail’s marketing & communications. Susan travels extensively and is enjoying retirement.

Client Coordinator

Yvonne Macfarlane

As a qualified Occupational Therapist for over 38yrs, in a variety of healthcare settings including; NHS, 3rd Sector and Social Services, Yvonne brings first hand knowledge to the team and is the first point of contact for our clients to ensure we can accommodate client needs on onboard.
